About tour

Enjoy the stunning scenery of Yarra Valley along with special wine and cheese tastings with private winery tours Yarra Valley. This is the perfect destination for you if you are looking for a relaxing and enjoyable vacation.

The Yarra Valley private tour from Luxury Tours is created for those who really appreciate sybaritic pleasures.

Among many private winery tours in the Yarra Valley, our program is unique in that we don’t aim to simply visit as many wineries as possible. Our experience suggests that in this business quality beats quantity. We believe that our program is one of the best among private wine tours in Melbourne.

Tour Destinations:

  • Yering Station winery
  • Cheese Dairy Farm
  • Dominique Portet winery
  • Cold Stream Hills winery
  • Lunch at Takar or Rochford estate
  • Yarra Valley Chocolaterie

Like many private wine tours in the Yarra Valley, your’s will begin with a short trip – no longer than an hour, from Melbourne city into the Yarra Valley. Upon arriving in the valley we will start your wine experience with a visit to the oldest winery in the region, established in 1838 – Yering Station. You will try the fantastic wines from the collections Village and Estate and also hear about the traditional methods of wine production.
Wine tastings in the Yering Station winery are free for groups under 10 people.

After a few sips of excellent wine, the morning section of your private winery tour in the Yarra Valley will continue with a visit to the local dairy, where you will have the opportunity to try a variety of fresh, soft cheeses made from cow’s or goat’s milk. There you will get to have a cup of tea and have a light breakfast from a cheese plate with crackers and fresh bread from the local bakery if you didn’t have time in the morning.
Cheese tasting at the Yarra Valley Dairy Farm is free for groups under 10 people.

Your next destination is the Dominique Portet Winery.
The winemaker in the ninth generation, Dominique chose the cool climate of the Yarra Valley as the most suitable place for the winery, which he called by his own name. The choice of this location was the result of many years of searching for suitable land, enabling him to compete with his countryman Bordeaux and became the beginning of a new chapter in the history of French winemaking, originating in the 17th century. We recommend trying 6 different wines: Sparkling Brut Rose, Sauvignon Blanc, Fontaine Cabernet Sauvignon, Fontaine Rose, Yarra Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, and Heathcote Shiraz.

Premium Wine Tasting in the Dominique Portet winery costs $10 per person.

Around noon, we will arrive at the next stop – the Tokar Estate winery. Founded in 1995 by Leon and Rita Tokar, this winery quickly earned the reputation of the pioneers of the valley. In addition to traditional Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Chardonnay, they were the first in the Valley who began to grow the Spanish sort of grapes – Tempranillo. Over the years, the effort spent on cultivating this variety has paid off in full and now Tempranillo is one of the flagship wines of these winemakers.
Wine tasting at the Tokar winery costs $5 per person.

The restaurant at the Tokar Estate can become a perfect location for lunch. In the restaurant’s cosy building, constructed in a Mediterranean style, you can enjoy a two-course meal with a glass of wine at $50 per person. The availability of the restaurant for booking is subject to change.

As an alternative to the Takar restaurant, we offer lunch in prestigious Rochford estate, where you can try a two-course meal with a glass of wine at $60 per person. Lunch is booked and paid for in advance and is subject to availability.

After lunch, we will head to the next stop at the Coldstream Hills winery, established in 1985 by famous wine critic James Halliday. From its very first harvest in 1985 Coldstream hills became one of the leading small wineries in Australia. Coldstream Hills pays particular attention to its growth and production of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. In addition to Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, Coldstream Hills produces Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon and sparkling wine.

Wine tasting at the Coldstream Hills winery costs $5 per person.

The final stop of the great day can be, should you choose, a visit to the Yarra Valley’s popular chocolate factory Chocolatier, where you will be offered a large selection of sweets and desserts, as well as homemade ice cream and coffee. This visit to the chocolate factory is very popular and highly recommended upon completion of the Yarra Valley private wine tours.

Upon completion of the tour, you will be taken back to a specified address.
